Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your Zeruth account at any time. This page describes how to request deletion, what data is removed, what we are required to retain, and how long the process takes.

How to request deletion

Send an email to [email protected] from the email address registered to your Zeruth account. Include:

• Subject: Account deletion request
• Your registered email address
• The display name on your account (optional, helps us locate it faster)

We use the matching sender address as the verification step — no separate identity check or login is required.

What we delete

When we process your request, we permanently remove:

• Your account profile — email, display name, password hash, MFA settings
• All devices you have enrolled or paired with this account
• Tenant memberships you hold (tenants you solely own are also removed; co-owned tenants reassign ownership per our standard handover)
• Recent connection history scoped to your account
• Diagnostic logs you opted to share, beyond the standard retention window
• Refresh tokens and active sessions across every Zeruth client signed in to this account

What we retain (and why)

A small set of records is kept after deletion for security, abuse- prevention, and legal-compliance reasons. None of these can be used to contact you or re-identify you:

• Pseudonymised audit log entries for security-relevant actions (e.g., sign-in attempts, permission changes). The entries reference an opaque token that has no link back to your name or email.
• Aggregated usage statistics that contain no individual identifiers (e.g., total daily session counts).
• Backups for up to 30 days following deletion. Restored backups are not used to recreate deleted accounts; they exist solely for disaster recovery.

Anonymous-mode users

If you used Zeruth in anonymous mode (without creating an account), no personal data is stored on our servers. The connection password and Zeruth ID rotate on demand. Uninstalling the app removes all local state from your device, which is sufficient to delete your anonymous-mode footprint completely.

Timeline

Deletion requests are processed within 30 days of receipt. You will receive a confirmation email at the original address once the deletion is complete. Backups containing pre-deletion snapshots are purged within an additional 30 days.
